AdSense & WordPress

If your name servers have not propagated yet skip this step until they have and you can reach your website by entering the domain name you picked.

After you have activated your AdSense Deluxe Plugin (in your Administration Area -> Plugins). You can easily add Adsense Blocks to your content.

If you already have an AdSense Account skip the first step

1.

2. Login to your AdSense Account

3. Click on AdSense Setup

4. And from there it is pretty straight forward. The most used AdSense Blocks are AdSense for content. Just get the kind of ad block you want and follow the wizard until you get the code snippet for your website (the AdSense Unit Code). Try to match the colors of your ads to the colors of your site. To “blend” ads in your site design increases the click through rate and because you get paid for every click, this is what you want.

5. Copy the AdSense code and go to your Administration Area -> Options -> AdSense Deluxe

6. Scroll down and add a new AdSense Block

8. And paste the code wherever it should appear

9. Keep in mind that you don’t have to use it with AdSense only. I also use it with affiliate links or other pieces of html or php code I want to insert into posts. The button below is an example how I use AdSense Deluxe with a Paypal button.

How to use Wordpress

If you want to learn how to use your site efficiently take a bit time and watch these video tutorials. The best written resource for all things WordPress related is the Wordpress Codex. It covers easy tutorials for beginner and advanced stuff for everyone who wants to do things like modifying their theme or create new ones.

Some of the first things I do when I have set up a new blog are:

  • Go to Options -> Writing and increase the size of the post box to 17
  • Go to Options -> Permalinks and set it to something name based. This makes your site more SEO friendly, really a must have!
  • Install more plugins, depending on what the blog is for
